GCE 'O" lvls year 2005 ss SBQ 1a STUDY source A do u tink the cartoonist supports the policy of using foreign talent in singapore ? EYA . 1stinference ==small singaporean....... shows that local talents are not comparable wif the foreign talents as shown .... it also shows that foreign talents are much recognized as compared to local talents which have to take the humble pie.. 2nd inference ==flags of their country still present ...... shows that the foreign talents are working half - heartedly..... despite being accepted into singapore they do not serve singapore whole heartedly and still bear their homeland in mind........ tone and purpose == the cartoonist does not support the idea of foreign talent ....the cartoonist expressed the foreign talents as taking up a larger space and having a bigger foothold in the singapore society and dominating some of the job which locals want a share .... the cartoonist also expressed the biased treatment of FT as compared to locals .... thus the source shows that the cartoonist disagrees wif the foreign talent and that this cartoon also conveys the msg to singaporeans that FT are having a bigger foot hold in singapore despite the fact that FT are not serving whole-heartedly........................................ b)study source B&C how different are the sources ? EYA. difference===" THE danger is that the govt , in its eagerness to push for foreign talent, overdoes it. by doing this , it would bring the downfall for singapore." as opposed to "Foreign talent brings skills and knowledge which would help us gain such an advantage "...... source b shows that over influx of FT would bring the downfall of singapore but source C shows that the influx of FT would let singapore gain a compeitive edge and advantage...... similarity=== "local talents chose to work overseas because they prefer to suffer discrimination there , rather than in singapore" as similar to "Ignoring our local talent will cause disillusionment and worsen our brain drain probelm ."....both sources how that due to the influx of foreign talent, it resulted in a brain drain probelm as singaporeans faced stiff compeitition in their own homeland......... c) study source D why do u think PM GCT made that speech ? EYA. purpose consists of 3 A's namely Action, Acheivement,Audience PM goh made that speech due to several reasons . due to the growing dissatisfaction of the singaporeans caused by the influx of FT which were snatching away their ricebowls ,PM goh needed to assure the locals that the country indeed look out for the locals. the speech is made as a form of assurance to the dissatisfied singaporeans during the national day rally nextly,PM goh need to address the issue as to why the high influx of FT ... the introduction of FT is partly due to brain drain probelms . since the locals are not striving for spore , in order for a small country to survive , they needed to have the compeitive economy and that FT were one of the best solutions. lastly, GCT, being a prime minister of singapore, has to support the country policy of FT to boost the economy capability of singapore. thus GCT made the speech to show and explain the country poliies to the ppl as well as show his support of the FT policy.... furthermore he hoped to garner support from the locals by explaining the policy to them in hoping that the ppl would understand the country's plight and show support for it...... d) study source E how far can u accept wat this source says abt the policy of using foreign talent?
